If you’re looking to adopt a rat from us, you’ve come to the right place! At Sundae Morning Rattery, I focus on breeding healthy, well-tempered rats and placing them in committed, informed homes.

This page will guide you through what to expect when adopting and how to join the waitlist.

Step 1: Review Policies & Requirements

Before applying, it is important that you carefully read through all of my policies and expectations.

  • Care requirements

  • Adoption terms

  • Health standards

Adopting rats is a commitment, and I want every home to feel confident and prepared.

Step 2: Join the Waitlist

Once you have reviewed all required information, the next step is to apply for the waitlist.

The waitlist allows me to:

  • Prioritize serious, prepared homes

  • Match rats thoughtfully

  • Keep the adoption process organized and fair

After submitting your application, you will be contacted once it has been reviewed.

Step 3: Waitlist Approval

If your application is approved, you will be added to the waitlist.

From there:

  • Wait times typically range from 3–5 months (may vary)

  • You will be contacted when rats become available to reserve

Being on the waitlist ensures you get first access to upcoming litters.

Step 4: Reservation Process

When a litter is ready for reservations (typically around 6–8 weeks of age), approved waitlist members will receive an email.

This email will include:

  • A specific reservation window

  • Instructions on how to reserve your chosen rat(s)

Reservations are first come, first served during this window.

Once your selection is made, a 50% holding fee is required to secure your rat(s).

Step 5: Public Availability

If any rats remain unreserved after the waitlist has had the opportunity to choose, they will be made publicly available.

These will be posted on the website (and social media) and can be adopted by approved applicants.
