Taanshi and welcome!
Welcome to Sundae Morning Rattery! My name is Rachelle. I am a small-scale ethical rat breeder based in Kamloops, British Columbia. I focus on raising healthy, well-socialized standard and rare dwarf rats with careful attention to temperament, structure, and long-term wellbeing.
I breed with intention. Every pairing is planned with health and personality in mind. My goal is to raise companion rats that are confident, friendly, and well prepared for family life.
About Sundae Morning Rattery
I started Sundae Morning Rattery because I believe pet rats deserve thoughtful breeding and responsible homes. I prioritize stable temperaments and clear communication with adopters. Each litter is raised in a home environment where babies receive daily, appropriate handling and positive social experiences.
I do not breed in high volume. Keeping my rattery small allows me to monitor health closely and ensure every rat receives proper care.
I am located in Kamloops, BC, and I welcome responsible adopters from across British Columbia and Western Canada.
Our Values & Ethics
At Sundae Morning Rattery, my mission is to ethically and intentionally breed healthy and well-socialized dwarf and standard size rats with exceptional temperaments as well as strong genetic foundations.
I prioritize three main things: health, longevity, and stable personalities (above trends and/or volume). Every litter is purpose-driven to improve the above qualities, and every rat is raised in a hands-on home environment.
I am committed to transparency, as well as education and lifelong support for our adopters. My goal is not simply to produce cute pet rats. I strive to positively impact the future of ethical rat breeding through deep respect for the animals in our care.
The Adoption Process
Adopting from Sundae Morning Rattery begins with a conversation. I ask questions about your experience, housing setup, and expectations so I can make thoughtful placement decisions. My application form walks you through that process. Make sure you read the information tab before applying.
When litters are available, I maintain a waitlist of approved applicants. This helps me match rats appropriately and avoid impulse placements. My goal is not to sell quickly but to place responsibly.
You can learn more about the adoption process or join the waitlist through my contact page.
My Breeding Philosophy
Ethical breeding means planning ahead and putting the animals first. I consider:
Health history within the line
Temperament consistency
Responsible placement in prepared homes
I do not place rats into solitary living situations. Rats are social animals and thrive with companions. I am available to answer questions before and after adoption because ongoing support matters.
Standard Fancy Rats
I raise standard fancy rats with a focus on balanced structure and friendly temperaments. My lines are selected for health history and consistent personalities. Whether you are new to rats or have kept them before, I work with you to help match the right companions to your home.
If you are searching for fancy rats in BC from an ethical breeder, I aim to provide a responsible alternative to pet store sourcing.
Rare Dwarf Rats
I am proud to offer rare dwarf rats in British Columbia. Dwarf rats carry a recessive gene that keeps them smaller than standard rats throughout their lives. They have the same intelligence and social needs as any fancy rat, but in a compact size.
Because dwarf rats are uncommon in Canada, I take extra care in maintaining strong health and stable temperaments within my lines. If you are looking for dwarf rats in BC, I am happy to discuss availability and whether they are a good fit for you.

Support the Ratties!
Want to make sure the rattery keeps thriving? We would love your support! All donations are put towards food costs, vet bills, and toys for the rats. Donations are not used for profit or personal use (unless you count buying a kiddie pool full of pom-poms for the rats to play in counts as ‘personal use’).
Thank you so much for any contributions to the little rascals!
